We currently have a free trial of FSTA (Food Science & Technology Abstracts) until 30^th November.  

It is an extensive collection of abstracts from the world's food science, food technology and food related human nutrition literature. It contains over 1.2 million bibliographic records from 1969 to the present.  It would be relevant to the following subject areas:

2016 Intel Women in Technology Scholarship - deadline 1st October

Intel is continuing their Women in Technology scholarship program for females who have just embarked on third level education. The scholarship program is supported by Intel in Leixlip, Shannon, and Cork and successful scholars are linked to an Intel campus based on their course selection and geographical location. 

• Scholarships are open to female school leavers entering specified undergraduate honors degree courses in science, technology, and engineering (full selection criteria is included below) and up to €3000 for each student per annum.

• Scholars will complete intern placements or summer internships at an Intel campus

Women in Science fellowship open for Irish entries - deadline 11th March

A fellowship programme for women from UK and Ireland operating in STEM areas is open for applications, with five recipients to receive £15,000 (€19,000).

Open to female postdoctoral researchers working in the fields of life and physical sciences, engineering, mathematics and computer sciences.

Women Invent

Google (IoT) Technology Research Award Pilot - deadline 29th February 2016

The Google Research Team have recently launched the Google Internet of Things (IoT) Technology Research Award Pilot. 

"This pilot provides selected researchers in-kind gifts of Google IoT related technologies with the goal of fostering collaboration with the academic community on small-scale (~4-8 week) experiments, discovering what they can do with our software and devices."

FameLab talking Science competition 2016 - Dublin Heat 06 February 2016

FameLab - talking science competition is one of the biggest science communication competitions in the world.

Famelab Ireland returns in 2016 as the world’s leading science communication competition.

If you think you can explain a scientific concept to a general audience, in just three minutes, then why not enter?

The winner will represent Ireland at the 2016 Famelab international finals in the UK and will also win €1000 in prize money.

If you are aged 18 or older and think you can explain a scientific concept in just three minutes, you could win some fantastic prizes.

Engaging with people outside the scientific community allows scientists to not only enthuse people about their work and science in general, but to justify their use of public funding.

Galway: Tuesday 09 February 2016, Taibhdhearc Theatre, Galway. Application deadline - Thursday 31 December 2015 (training Tuesday 12 January 2016)
